tISSUE

Installation, dress
2018

The body, in its instability and uncertainty, oscillates between hyper-aesthetics and trash culture. Especially the female body, which has always been the target of power, on which different signs and meanings have always been inscribed. I ask the question of how, in the artistic sense, to preserve the memory of the natural body and physicality without falling under the veil of banalization?

The body is most terrifying when it is there as an absence of self.

Investigating the issues of the boundaries of the body and clothing, imprint and memory, the clothing installation tISSUE is created, composed of used tissue materials.

I believe that discarded things have quality and potential, their value and usability derive from the way of observation, access and placement. Recycled objects are used as raw material in production that results in the construction of a new object, preserving the memory of the identity of the old one.

The question arises, what do clothes, as body memory, know about us? What can the "second skin" represent and transform? How capable and precise is a clothing object, as a sculpture or an installation in space, in processing data and communication in relation to the verbal articulation of the problem of preserving the memory of the body?
